From the Desk (and Mind) of Marc Landsberg

Zen_of_Ten: The Significance of Silence

More Zen_of_Ten: 10 more minutes each week, reading silently alongside my wife Lindsay Bray Landsberg.

I used to watch couples in cafes, restaurants, park benches, each reading silently, seemingly ignoring the other.

I used to think to myself, “how sad. they can’t even look up, and say a word to one another. apparently, the words on the page are more riveting.”

And recently, I’ve come to realize something. It’s a blessing to be in the company of someone you cherish, where simply being alongside them having a quiet read is better connection than any spoken words could possibly engender.

Sometimes, it’s just good to be sure of someone.

Winnie the Pooh said it best:

Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh?” he whispered.

“Yes, Piglet?”

“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s hand. “I just wanted to be sure of you.”
